Fayetteville's Historic Architecture Trail takes visitors on a tour of the unique and eclectic architecture in the greater Fayetteville Region. Fair Oaks House was built in 1858 and incorporates a Georgian plan with Greek Revival and Italianate elements. During General Sherman's occupation of Fayetteville in 1865 some of the Union troops camped on the grounds.

Fayetteville has a long, proud history that dates back to the Revolutionary War era. Local patriots signed the Liberty Point Resolves in 1775—sometimes called an early Declaration of Independence. It’s a little known fact that North Carolina delegates ratified the US Constitution in Fayetteville!
