Making my way down to the lobby lounge, I was excited to try one of their many egg white infused cocktails. Ultimately choosing the "Melrose" (fitting right?), concocted with Elyx vodka, pomegranate and lemon juices, essence of hibiscus, and of course, egg whites—delish.
A cheerful and knowledgeable bar staff made the experience even more pleasurable.
With dinner on my mind, I made my way across the lobby to Jardenea. Although I really wanted to sit on the outside terrace, it was still too hot for my liking, and managed a picture perfect seat to people-watch in front of the glass French doors overlooking Pennsylvania Avenue.
I started off with a favorite, Seared Yellowfin Tuna— prepared with cilantro and Jícama citrus slaw over avocado purée. Just look at that texture. Amazing.
Never a fan of grits, I devoured these. Perhaps because they were prepared correctly and indulgently so. The Coriander Dusted Hawaiian Sea Bass was just as delectable as the purple grits and topped with a beurre blanc, who could resist?
Next in the lineup was Berry Crème Brûlée. You can't go wrong with this as dessert!
